MARK GATISS SEES YOU WHEN YOU DRAW FAN ART.
There are quite a few instances of imagery from fan art and fanfiction turning up in the show long after the fan art or fanfiction in question has been created and shared on Tumblr. There’s this, there’s the original Vitruvian Man With John Face by havetardiswilltimetravel, and there are the interesting resemblances of scenes in S3 to moments from fanfics by ivyblossom and madlori.
There are two possible explanations for why images from fanworks turn up in the show:
1) It’s all coincidental, but because the universe is rarely so lazy, it goes to show that fan-artists/fic-writers and the writers of the show are simply in tune with one another. We do understand the characters they’re creating, and it’s not much of a stretch for the people who are creating a version of John who is Sherlock’s ideal man and the people who understand that that version of John is Sherlock’s ideal man to both arrive, independently of one another, at the idea that it would be cute if Sherlock put John’s face on the Vitruvian man. Similarly, it’s not much of a stretch for both creators and fans to imagine that Sherlock’s urge to smoke might become even worse, and that “a whole pack of cigarettes in his mouth” would be the next logical way to show him teetering on the brink, after we’ve already seen him using multiple nicotine patches and getting off on secondhand smoke.
2) It’s fan service, and they really are drawing images from fanworks to use in the show. Whether they actually have the time to do this, or the inclination, or even the willingness from a legal standpoint (I suppose if it’s just a brief image here or there, and not very obviously the plot of an entire fic, they’re safe from accusations of infringement), I don’t know and can’t say, but it’s worth noting that internet theories about the fall were featured on Anderson’s wall o’ fanboy, so even if no one else involved in the show has been looking to fandom for inspiration, we know at the very least that Arwel has essentially turned meta into wall decorations, which means there’s precedent. We can’t say for sure that the writers are also deliberately referencing fanworks, but it seems to me that it can’t be ruled out, either.
Either way, I like it.
The scene in which Elsa walks out onto the balcony of her newly constructed ice palace is 218 frames long, and includes the film’s longest frame to render. The single frame took more than 132 hours to render (that’s more than five days).

She has failed at life. I hope authorities show up at her door.
River looked at her diary. ”Right then. You’re young - seen that face with a bit more mileage. Honestly, nine hundred plus and look at that skin - it’s a wonder any woman in the Universe is still talking to you.
So where does that put us - just after the Bone Meadows? Oh! Before the Bone Meadows. Well, of course it’s before, you’ve got legs. Kidding. Probably.”

I’m all yours, honey.
Yes, you are. Dinner?
